Taste Of India
Taste of India (TOI) is an initiative for the immigrant population to blend into their adopted homeland by reinventing their roots in the context of the new culture.
Growing from a brief performance in a small multicultural show to a full production over the last 13 years, Taste of India' has gradually become an institution in the City of Darebin, encompassing other ethnic groups than its name implies.
TOI has been exploring Darebin City's diverse ethnicity in a dynamic manner as part of the annual Darebin Music Feast to promote the vibrant independent music scene in the City.
The Victorian Government has a steadfast policy to provide Victorians, all the background & opportunity to experience a rich multicultural heritage and has stood by TOI's growth generously.
The Darebin City Council encourages, supports, promotes and guides TOI's collaborations over the years, with other art forms & cultures in Melbourne.
Taste of India has been a prodigious evolving success since its inception in 2001, showcasing Indian culture and artistic talent in concerts. It has been of immense satisfaction for TOI patrons to see youngsters perform with artistic vision, rooted in their traditions, but branching off with fusions in their adopted homeland. Students in Melbourne find a platform with TOI to interact & work with professionals in various capacities. Over the years, TOI has brought in several Indian Artists to interact & perform in Melbourne.
TOI has been proudly supporting the Starlight Children's Foundation, Australia and is essentially an art & culture event for youngsters in Melbourne.
